- Enter after typing telnet in command prompt.
- Write setlocalecho and press Enter button.
- Write set logfile<type your filename here> and press Enter.
- Write OPEN mail1.fabrikam.com 25and press Enter.
- Write EHLO contoso.com and press Enter.
- Write MAIL FROM:<firstname.lastname@example.org>and press Enter.
- Write RCPT TO:<email@example.com> NOTIFY=success, failure, and press Enter.
- Write DATA and press Enter.
- Write Subject: Test from Contoso and press Enter.
- Now press Enter once more.
- Write This is a test message and press Enter.
- Write a period ( . ) and press Enter.
- Write QUIT and then press Enter in order to quit from the SMTP server.
- Write QUIT again closing the Telnet session and pressing Enter.
